Day One of Tasmania's campaign in the National Netball Championships looked tough from the outset. Coming up against two powerhouse sides, the 17&U versing New South Wales and the 19&U versing Queensland. Our squads left nothing on the court and did TAS proud in their first day of competition.
17&U
The team started strong, scoring the first goal of the match easily. The second quarter, TAS turned up to play. Outscoring NSW by 2 goals, the team showed determination and grit. NSW took the win in the end, 40-22. TAS showed a lot of promise with pockets of elite play throughout the game. It is an exciting start with the rest of the tournament to come, things are looking promising.
19&U
Some tight defense from Paige O'Neill, Lily Case and Ella Harnett started us off looking dangerous in the 19&U match against QLD. The team stayed composed under pressure and kept chipping away in a 4-quarter effort to be proud of. The match ended, QLD 49 - TAS 20.
