The tournament will be held from the 18-23 April, at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre, with teams represented from each state and territory in each age group. Gold medal matches will be played on Thursday 23 April to decide the 2020 National Netball Champions in both divisions.
Netball Australia’s Executive General Manager of Performance Andrew Collins said the tournament continues to be a crucial component in identifying future Australian Diamonds players.
“The National Netball Championships are a key fixture on Netball Australia’s calendar and an important part of the elite pathway program, allowing the best young talent to showcase their abilities in front of national selectors.
“It is an environment that reflects elite level netball. The tournament will provide a valuable learning opportunity for all athletes where they will experience the intensity of having to compete at a higher level and challenge themselves to find consistency across a demanding week.
“The event brings together the most talented netballers from around the country and we expect to see some exciting netball,” Collins said.
Netball Tasmania CEO Aaron Pidgeon said the organisation is honoured to be hosting the major netball pathway event and is looking forward to seeing the talent on display.
“Netball Tasmania is very excited about the opportunity to host the National Netball Championships in 2020 and for the Tasmanian netball community to witness firsthand the best up-and-coming talent across the country and the future stars of our Suncorp Super Netball competition.”
