Day three and four of the National Netball Championships were a bit of a rollercoaster for team Tasmania. Mid competition, the inevitable tired bodies gave it their absolute all on court in both teams. An afternoon off court, and some R&R did a world of good, with both teams securing a win in some top-notch games on Sunday evening.
17&U
On Saturday the 17&U's met South Australia. It was a tough match for our athletes, they left nothing on the court and gave it their absolute all. Unfortunately, SA took the win 37-19.
The team bounced back bigger and better than even on Sunday; they challenged WA through all four quarters and kept cool, calm and collected. TAS went down 28-40 but set themselves up for an incredible win later in the day. In the sixth round of the Championships, TAS brought the intensity and confidence and took down QLD in a nail biter, 36-33. We couldn't be prouder of the athletes and their perseverance.
19&U
The 19&U's took on WA for their only game on Saturday. Despite bringing the intensity in their defense across the court, WA took the win 40-20. In their first game on Saturday vs VIC, Tasmania hit the ground running. Putting it all together across the whole court, TAS lead by 1 at the half time break. Ultimately going down at the final siren, 20-36, Tasmania set themselves up for their second match against NT. Sophie Brewer and Sophie Blackberry were accurate in attack to secure the win 33-31.
