Day Two of the National Netball Championships boasted two games for each of our Tasmanian teams. Both the 17&U's and the 19&U's met ACT in their round 2 matches, the 19&U's later came up against South Australia and the 17&U's met the Northern Territory. It was a day of triumph's for both teams as they displayed great determination and resilience.
Round 2
17&U
A second half come back from our Tassie girls united the crowd in their clash against ACT. There were some incredible displays of netball smarts from both sides on the court. Tasmania started out a little sluggish which was evident in few missed opportunities. Despite this, they were able to rally and bounce back even better in the 3rd and 4th quarters. ACT ultimately took the win 24-27.
19&U
Some incredible work in all areas of the court saw the 19&U's come agonisingly close to their first win of the Championships. With poise and maturity beyond their years, the Tasmanian side kept themselves in the fight until the final siren. Unlucky on the day, ACT won 30-28.
Round 3
17&U
In Tasmania's first win for the Championships, our 17&U team set up an absolute ripper of game against the Northern Territory. The team put it all together in attack and defense to win the ball and make opportunity after opportunity. A 46 -13 win to Tasmania and the team will take that confidence into the next round tomorrow.
19&U
Round 3 saw a tough match for the 19&U's against South Australia. Despite challenges throughout, the team didn't drop their heads and continued their valiant effort through all four quarters. Making our state proud, the team showed continuous support to each other and sportsmanship on court. The match ended 42 - 17 in SA's favour.
