Four of the Victorian-based athletes are Collingwood Magpies training partners: Brooke Allan, Sharni Lambden, Nyah Allen and Emma Ryde. Sam Gooden also joins the Victorian list, with one player yet to be announced.
Of the seven Tasmanian members, six will travel each week and will be complemented by the Victorian members.
Of the Tasmanian squad members, five athletes are returning from the 2019 Bronze Medal team: Zoe Claridge, Zanna Jodlowska, Shelby Miller, Ashleigh Probert-Hill and Kelsie Rainbow. Alex Vinen is returning to the team following an absence in 2019, while Rebecca Hyland has been rewarded after a fantastic 2019 RACTI League Season, and will be debuting.
Despite residing in Victoria, Kelsie Rainbow is included among our Tasmanian players having been supported and developed through the Netball Tasmania pathway.
Returning coach, Jon Fletcher, is excited about the upcoming season.
‘’We selected seven Tasmanian athletes which is indicative of the strength of the Tasmanian talent.”
Collingwood Magpies Head Coach, Rob Wright, was involved in the selection process.
“It was great to have Rob involved in the recruitment. This program underpins the senior Magpie program and provides a pathway for Tasmanian players,” Fletcher said.
Netball Tasmania High Performance Pathway Manager, Jo Marsh, is pleased with the mix of athletes selected.
“Having seven Tasmanian athletes as part of the program gives us flexibility on a week-to-week basis,”
“With five returning athletes, as well as two new faces, we will have a good balance within the program.”
