The Cripps Opens Team will enter the 2026 season full of confidence following a highly productive pre-season. After finishing 4th last year, the group has set its sights on going further, bringing a determined mindset and strong belief into the season ahead.
“We’ve had a really strong pre-season. The energy at training has been fantastic, and there’s a genuine hunger within the group to build on last year’s result.”
The defensive end sees the return of Alex and Hannah Vinen alongside Hannah Navickas. This established trio work seamlessly together, combining composure, communication and exceptional game awareness. Their ability to read the play, apply relentless pressure and disrupt opposition attacking combinations will form a strong foundation for the team throughout the season.
“Our defenders have built great chemistry. They trust each other, they communicate exceptionally well, and they pride themselves on making life difficult for opposition shooters.”
Through the midcourt, Ash Probert-Hill, Abbey Geappen, Olivia Read and Matilda Kaye will provide energy and creativity. Each player brings a different dimension to the game, whether through speed, vision or work rate. Their ability to transition the ball smoothly, create space and generate strong attacking options will be central to the team’s style of play.
“The versatility in our midcourt is a real strength, we’ve got players who can adapt to different combinations and bring something unique every time they step on court.”
In the shooting circle, Matilda Franklin, Sophie Pidgeon, Jess Owen, Bellah Parker and Hollie Moore offer exciting and versatile combinations. With confident movement, strong accuracy and composure under pressure, this group will provide a variety of options and a consistent scoring presence.
“We’re excited about the options we have in attack. There’s great balance in the circle, and the connections between our feeders and shooters continue to grow.”
Beyond on-court combinations, the squad has invested significant time into strengthening its fitness base, connections and overall team culture. The work completed during pre-season has built a solid platform, and as belief continues to grow, so too does the potential of this group.
“There’s a strong belief building within the team. We know what we’re capable of, and we’re determined to keep improving every week.”
With momentum building and a clear focus on progress, the Cripps Opens are ready to embrace the challenges of 2026 and push to surpass last season’s achievements.
