Round 14 capped off a jam-packed weekend of netball across the state, coinciding with the Melbourne Mavericks SSN game and the Tasmania Wild vs Tasmanian Titans exhibition match.
The South East Suns and Northern Hawks started the weekend strong at South East Stadium. Hawks 19&U's notched up another win for the season. The Hawks so far, a looking poised to repeat season 2024's results and finish undefeated on top of the ladder. Sophie Sherriff is this weeks Hot Shot of the round, shooting 40 goals from 41 attempts. Hawks Opens continue to hold their place at 3rd on the ladder.
Heading to Ulverstone, Cripps make the trip to the North West to take on Devon and compete for 4th spot on the ladder. Devon 19&U's took out the win 52-41, now sitting on equal points to Cripps in 3rd & 4th. The Opens was a very close fought match, with Devon coming out of the gates strong and Cripps clawing their way back in in the second half. Devon eventually took the win 38-34. This was our featured match of the round, congratulations to Devon defender Makenzie Andersen for taking out the 2XU Player of the Match for her well timed intercepts.
The final match ups of the day was between the Cavaliers and Karana. Karana 19&U's were able to hold onto a first quarter break (15-12) in a high scoring, intense match to take the win 57-54. The Cavaliers Opens took out their 14th win of the season, remaining undefeated and looking stronger than ever. The Opens Hot Shot of the round, shooting 37 goals from 40 attempts is Sophie Blackberry. Sophie's teammate Sophie Brewer also shot 37 with an accuracy of 84%.
