As the TNL 2026 season approaches, the Cavaliers 19U are heading into the year with energy, focus, and a determination to build on last season’s performances. Chatting with 19U athlete Mollie Poulton, the teams pre-season has been going really well, with a strong emphasis on building strength and stability. “I started off by putting a lot of emphasis on building strength and stability, making sure my foundation is solid,” one player said. “Now I’m transitioning into more endurance-focused work, mixing in both long-distance runs and shorter, high-intensity sessions. I’m feeling good about the progress so far and I’m excited to keep pushing as the season gets closer.”
Endurance and speed have been key areas of focus for the squad as they prepare for the long season ahead. “The main areas I’ve been focusing on for the 2026 season are building my endurance to maintain a strong performance across a full game of netball and improving my high-intensity speed so I can respond quickly during fast passages of play,” the player explained.
There have also been some notable changes to the team’s structure. The defensive end has been almost completely reconstructed, and new players have joined across the court, bringing a “fresh energy to the group.” After the way the back end of 2025 played out, the team is entering the new season with a renewed drive to push for a top-four finish.
Improving fitness and consistency is central to the team’s plan for 2026. “To build on last season’s performance, I know I need to keep improving my endurance so I can make smarter decisions under pressure. By increasing my fitness and maintaining consistency throughout the game, I’ll be able to stay composed in high-intensity moments and contribute more effectively to the team,” the player said.
One fixture already stands out for the squad. The clash against the Northern Hawks is expected to test their limits. “That game is always a challenge, and it really pushes us to elevate our performance. It’s a match where every moment counts, and I’m excited to test ourselves against such a strong opposition,” the player said.
The Cavs 19U also place a strong emphasis on developing players both on and off the court. “When we create trust and genuine relationships off the court, it becomes much easier to execute our roles and support each other on the court,” the player said. “By keeping open communication, we can talk honestly about what each player needs to work on, share feedback, and hold each other accountable. This kind of environment helps us grow not just as athletes, but as people.”
Heading into the season, the mood in the squad is enthusiastic and positive. “Everyone has put in the work, and now we’re eager to get out there, compete, and prove what we’re capable of,” the player said. One of the most exciting aspects of the year will be integrating the new team members and building stronger connections. “I’m most excited to get to know the new people in our team a bit better and to grow together throughout the season. Building those new connections and seeing how we all progress as a group is something I’m really looking forward to.”
With a strong pre-season behind them, new talent added across the court, and a focus on both performance and team culture, the Cavs 19U are ready to make their mark on the TNL 2026 season.
