2022 saw another year of Tasmanian clubs and associations engaging with the Woolworths NetSetGO program. The 8–10-week program, designed to introduce boys and girls between the ages of 5-10 to netball skills and match play. Tasmania amassed over 660 participants over 17 clubs or associations this year, with NTNA taking out top prize of most registered participants. Hear what the clubs and associations have to say about their involvement in the Woolworths NetSetGO program:
Circular Head Netball Association
This year Circular Head netball association had a amazing amount of interest in our net set go program, in previous year we struggled to get a dozen kids to participate this year we had 19 children register. All of the participants learnt so much from our program and really enjoyed it. The parents gave us positive feedback and can’t wait for us to run our next program.
South East Suns
Our littlest Suns are going from strength to strength while participating in our 2022 Net SetGO program.
Kingborough Netball Association
2022 has seen our participation levels increase by 50% and we could have taken many more participants. We faced many challengers during this year (court availability and volunteers being the main challenges) but feel proud as an Association that we have been able to provide numerous opportunities for participation in netball within our immediate community. We look forward to further growth in the NSG space in 2023.
NTNA
Our Net Set Go roster went for 15 weeks on a Saturday morning. We had 13 teams participating in mixed teams. Everyone had fun and developed their netball skills, both in communication and team sportsmanship. We had 115 participants in this roster, this was a substantial increase from previous years. Currently there are three clubs within the NTNA that are running NetSetGo clinics for eight weeks with high participation numbers.
Generation Netball Club
We have had a great clinic this season. With the NTNA courts out of action we have been very lucky to use indoors at old YMCA venue. This in fact has been a life saver at the weather has not been great and being indoors means no cancellations.
We have had 16 new participants for this clinic and then we invited participants who already participated during winter months to also join us if they wished. We had a Halloween dress up day which was fun and even some lollies and biscuits! We have had the support from Woolworths Mowbray in donating recovery fruit each week. With a smaller space most weeks we had up to 25 coming along and developing skills. We have had wonderful coaches also volunteering their time to assist. We have our final week on Dec 5th and we have a sausage sizzle at the end where all family members are invited, a lolly scramble and of course the handing out of certificates. They have all had a great few weeks and we can't wait for them to commencing playing in the next year or two
