Wales is currently the 8th ranked nation in the official International Netball Federation (INF) World Rankings, with Scotland ranked 12th.
Both countries had an intensive Commonwealth Games campaign in Glasgow last year and then secured their spots in the World Cup through the European Regional Qualifying Series beating out Ireland and Northern Ireland for the two available spots.
An elite squad of young athletes from Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence will join Wales and Scotland in Tasmania. International exhibition matches will be held at the Derwent Entertainment Centre, the Silverdome, and Aurora Sports Stadium during the last week of July and first week of August.
Tasmania is well placed to offer outstanding international facilities with the Silverdome and Aurora Sports Stadium being designated as the two primary training centres. Country Club Tasmania and Wrest Point are the key accommodation partners, with Bodysystem providing physiotherapy support.
Several community and public events will take place around the state to enable the Tasmanian public to engage with world class athletes and be a part of the lead up and staging of the largest female sporting event in the world.
