Netball Tasmania would like to announce its intent to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Netball Australia for an owner’s licence in the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) League. The announcement follows the league’s expansion update and the opening of the EOI process on Friday the 28th of November, 2025.
The opportunity to bid for an SSN team in Tasmania has been long anticipated and deeply desired. An elite team on the national stage would not only elevate our sport but also deliver transformational benefits for athletes, coaches, officials, and the broader Tasmanian community. This is more than an EOI; it is our chance to secure the pathway and platform our sport has earned.
We have not approached this lightly. Every step has been taken with careful consideration and with a commitment to what best serves our community. Supported by highly qualified and experienced industry professionals, we are conducting comprehensive due diligence to ensure the long-term viability and success of an SSN team in Tasmania. Sustainability is central to our decision-making, and we are determined to put forward a bid that is both ambitious and responsible.
We are working closely with experts with a background in successfully developing and commercialising both established and newly launched franchise programs nationwide, and securing investment across corporate, consumer and government sectors, to ensure our proposal reflects best practice and positions Tasmania as a compelling choice for expansion. Importantly, we have had positive conversations with the Tasmanian Government, who share our belief around pursuing these opportunities for pathway growth and development.
We are confident that this bid will reflect the vision, needs, and aspirations of the Tasmanian netball community. Our Board and team are united in their determination to deliver a complete and aspirational pathway, one that inspires the next generation and ensures our athletes can dream big.
Finally, your support will be crucial. Together, the collective community has worked toward this goal for years, and now is the time to stand behind it with pride and conviction. Every voice matters and collectively, we can demonstrate the strength, unity, and passion of netball in Tasmania so please share the message widely.
