The program is opened up to all girls aged 13*- 15 years of age, to represent their nearest regional association (BNA, DNA, NTNA, NENA, STNA x2, KNA). Each association holds selections and selects a squad of their best 12-15 athletes and train for duration of approximately 10 weeks.
Newly appointed Performance Pathway Manager, Allison Turner said she is looking forward to seeing the weekend come together.
“The athletes and coaches put a lot of effort in over the course of many weeks, so it will be great to see all their hard work pay-off.”
“Carnivals like this are crucial to the next generation and development of Tasmanian netball. They allow us, as the state body, to identify athletes early and work with them throughout continuous years in our newly established EDS program in anticipation of state and national recognition” Turner said.
Each team will play 5-6 unscored matches, allowing selectors to assess the individuals and select up to 30 athletes to move through to a 2-day phase 2 camp at the end of May. The selection panel will be made up of 15U State Coach Lisa Wheeldon, Assistant Coach Andrew Jackson, Netball Tasmania and acting High Performance Coach Aaron Pidgeon, and EDS 3 North Coach Dana Lester.
After the completion of phase 2, 12 successful athletes plus 3 training partners will train hard in preparation for the School Sports Australia National Netball Championships which will be held in Werribee Victoria from the 28th July – 3rd August.
