The seven-week competition [plus finals] acts as Netball Australia’s feeder competition into the Suncorp Super Netball League, which is vital to the national pathway, not only for athletes, but coaches, umpires and officials as well.
Tasmania has been represented by five players, one assistant coach, three support staff, five bench officials and two umpires throughout the 2019 DUANL.
The final round of the regular competition will see the #TASMAGS board yet another plane to travel to the Sunshine Coast to take on Territory Storm.
With a guaranteed finals appearance, Head Coach Elissa Kent said this weekend’s focus will be on the team goals.
“There is no doubt we put ourselves in a great position through playing good netball to start the season and by getting those consistent wins early.”
“Heading into the last round knowing we are in finals allows us to take confidence into the matches and to play freely” she said.
The last two rounds have been the toughest for the team, being dealt four straight losses by VIC Fury and the NSW Waratahs who are the two teams sitting above them on the ladder.
“After coming off two tough weekends, there will be a real focus on ourselves, our combinations and the netball we want to put out there and be proud off” Kent said.
“Lightning come off two solid wins against Southern Force who we had one win and one loss against, so they will be a tough opposition.”
At the completion of round 7, there is a rostered week off, before the finals will take place in Melbourne on the final weekend of June.
