They will play two matches against fifth placed Southern Force, who have only recorded the one win so far this season.
Sitting second by percentage and currently undefeated, local defender Zanna Jodlowska said it is has been a fantastic way to start the season.
“However, the team is more focussed on the process of playing the game, making adjustments to our setups, learning and enhancing the skills, and learning to come together on the court than on the score or the results.”
“It is a well-known fact that all teams in the ANL this year are strong and not to be underestimated – it isn’t the sort of competition where we can go into games with any assumptions about how the opposition is likely to perform” she said.
Jodlowska has been a part of the Tasmanian Magpies since the inaugural season in 2017.
“I’ve learnt so much over that time, but I think the biggest personal lesson is how the strength of the team is a reflection of all components of that team and how well they can come together.”
“Every year I think the pathway for Tasmanians to play and train at a higher level is getting stronger” she said.
Whilst home courts themselves don’t necessarily play an advantage, a vocal home crowd can be influential and inspiring.
“As a Tasmanian based athlete, a home game really means a lot to me. Never having played an ANL match in Hobart means this is even more significant, it gives us a chance to play in front of a home crowd, in front of friends and family” Jodlowska said.
“I am hoping that the Hobart netball community is going to really get behind the team this weekend and that the games will draw a bit of a crowd.”
Sharni Lambden will return to the court this week, returning from injury. Tasmanian Magpies training partner, Hayley McDougall has been added to the team for the round three matches in Hobart.
