Round 7 and we are a third of the way through the 2025 TNL home and away season. This round cemented our top four ladder spots in both divisions with some usual suspects and some exciting new teams creeping into finals contention. While we’re a third of the way through, we’ve still got 14 rounds to go and plenty of time for things to change!
Coming off the bye Hawks hosted South East Suns at the Silverdome. Both the Opens and the 19&U’s displayed confidence and composure in their wins, locking in top of the ladder in 19&U and second in Opens. 19&U’s goalie duo Emily and Zoe O’Connor shot 55 from 64 attempts in a solid effort.
Two very different games played out in the Cavaliers v Karana on Saturday afternoon. Karan 19&U have been going from strength to strength. Karana GS Ebony McGinniss is once again, the Hot Shot of the 19&U division for round 7, putting up a total of 42 of the team 52 goals.
In the Opens, the top of the ladder Cavaliers put on a show, keeping Karana to just 21 goals. Hayley McDougall demonstrating her immense talent in the circle, scored 70 goals from 72 shots. With Paige O’Neill and Lily Case in the defensive circle, and pressure across the court, the Cavaliers are going to be hard to beat for any team this season.
In the featured match of the round, Cripps Waratah and Devon both headed into the round vying for 4th spot on the ladder. It was a must win for both sides in a journey to help rebuild confidence. Cripps19&U’s started solid with a 46-29 win. Cripps Opens followed suit but not without a challenge from the Devon side. An up and down game ended with Cripps taking the win and the final spot in the 4, 42-38. The 2XU Player of the Match was Ash Probert-Hill for her consistent hard work in the centre court.
