TNL Round 14 delivered a mixed bag of results across both grades. A dominant Friday night display, a couple of convincing wins up north, and a pair of tight finishes that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
The biggest result of the round came on Friday night at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre, where Harcourts Kingston Blues Opens pulled off a strong 50–42 victory over Cripps Waratah. It's a statement win for Kingston, who showed real composure to get the job done. Cripps' U19s had started the evening in fine form, putting up 58 goals to Kingston Blues 19&U's 33 in the earlier match. This week's 19U Hot Shot of the Round was Cripps' Ruby Clark, in her sides dominant win of Kingston.
Up at Mowbray on Saturday afternoon, the Hawks Opens were ruthless against Devon, running out 56–29 winners in a performance that will give coach and players plenty of confidence heading into the back half of the season. The Hawks U19 weren't quite able to replicate that form in the earlier game, going down to a determined Devon 19U side 43–34. Devon's young group showed plenty of fight to take that one, and it'll be a result they can build on.
At the South East Sports Complex on Saturday evening, it was a evening that delivered contrasting finishes. The 19U match between South East Suns and Karana Flames was a real contest, with Karana fighting back to edge out Suns 38–36 in a two-goal thriller. Two goals in it at the final whistle; Karana will be thrilled to grind that one out. The Opens match was more straightforward, with South East Suns Opens accounting for Karana Flames 52–37 in a solid all-around performance that keeps their season ticking along nicely. Player of the Match for Round 14 was Sun's Aimee Bean for her dominance in attack. Karana Open's player Georgia Clark was a highlight for her team, scoring the Hot Shot of the Round for her 100% shooting accuracy.
