Some close games made up round 11 of the TNL, where south took on south and north took on north.
Kicking off the round on Thursday night, a blockbuster matchup between two strong southern teams, Kingston Blues and Cripps Waratah. Both teams are currently sitting in the top 4, likely to make it to finals in 2025. The 19&U match went back a fourth between both teams, Cripps started strong but headed into the half time break behind by a point. Going down to the wire, Kingston shot the final 5 goals to secure the win 44-42. The Opens looked to onlookers to be a close one, Kingston edged into the lead bit by bit at each quarter time to eventually take the win 54-35.
In a battle of the Northern powerhouses, the Northern Hawks and Cavaliers met at the Silverdome in a Friday night showstopper. The 19&U Cavaliers were searching for their fourth win of the season, and the Hawks were looking to remain undefeated. It played out as planned for the Northern Hawks, winning 65-30. A very special mention to our 19&U Hot Shot for the round Sophie Sherriff, who shot 43 goals from 43 attempts in the win.
The tables were turned for the Open's match, with the Cavaliers fighting to continue their undefeated season against 2nd on the ladder, the Hawks. The Hawks dominated the first quarter and things weren't looking good for the Cav's. They turned it around come the second quarter and locked down the win 49-40. Grace Ebbelaar and Paige O'Neill have formed an elite partnership in defence. As this was our featured match of the round, congratulations to Paige O'Neill for securing the 2XU Player of the Match.
The final matchup between southern sides Karana and the South East Suns presented an opportunity for both sides to add to their win tally for the year. The 19&U Suns team, yet to secure their first win for the year, couldn't shut down Karana GS/GA Ebony McGinniss who scored a total of 49 goals. Karana eventually took the win 73-23. The Suns Open's side nabbed their second win for the year, with a 46-26 victory.
