The Tasmanian Netball League recommenced for round 10 after a break for the NNC's and Easter. After a two-week break, teams were ready and raring to go.
The weekend of matches fell the day after ANZAC Day; throughout the weekend the day was commemorated with a minute's silence being observed before each 19&U's match. In our featured match up of the round, the Northern Hawks donned specially designed dresses for charity Mates 4 Mates. The dress will be worn by each player in the Open's and 19&U teams for three rounds and then each auctioned off to raise money for the worthy cause.
The Hawks had two strong wins against Karana in their first games, with a number of players returning from the NNC's. Sophie Sherriff continued her MVP winning form by being our 19&U Hot Shot of the round with 34 goals, contributing to the 19&U's 74-31 win. The 2XU Player of the Match goes to Northern Hawks defender, Lynette Childs.
In our second match of the round, Kingston headed up to Ulverstone to take home team Devon. The home team started strong in both the 19&U's and Opens, but at the end of the four quarters Kingston Blues took the win both grades. Daisy Bennett was dominant in goals in the 19&U's and a confident Nicole Hunt shot 41 of Kingston's 48 goals in the Opens. Congratulations to Tess Cooper for playing her 50th TNL Open game with the Kingston Blues.
In our final matchup of the round, the South East Suns took on Opens ladder leaders the Cavaliers. The 19&U's moved up a spot on the ladder from 6th to 5th with a 34-goal win and the Opens extended their top of the ladder lead with a 52-goal win. In an outstanding display of skill, the Cavaliers Haylee McDougall shot an impressive 55 goals from 55 attempts.
