The Karana Opens are heading into the 2026 TNL season with renewed energy, and a strong sense of belief. Under newly appointed head coach Clare Bush, preseason has focused heavily on fitness, strength and agility, with a clear aim to improve the team’s ability to perform consistently for a full 60 minutes.
“Preseason has started nicely, combining game fitness and strength whilst building our on-court connections and setting the standard early for the style of play we intend to bring to season 2026,” the Clare shared. Building the capacity to work under fatigue has been a major priority, alongside strengthening communication, cohesion and accountability across the court.
The 2026 squad features a blend of experience and youth. Returning players Holly McConnon, Jess Byers and Chelsea Browning provide valuable leadership, while Caitilin Stevanovich, Ebony McGuinness and Sienna Nowland step up from the U19s, joined by Piper Ling and Georgia Clark from the U21s. New recruits Olivia Harman, Matilda Allen and Chelsea Doyle add depth and experience to an already motivated group.
“Our mood heading into the season could be described as hungry and motivated,” Co-Captains Olivia Harman and Holly McConnon said. “The group has set high expectations to keep each other accountable and won’t be shying away from pushing teams this season.”
Culture remains central to the team’s approach. Clare emphasised the importance of building “a cohesive and competitive team with the emphasis on teamwork and creating a positive and supportive environment.” The Opens and U19s continue to work closely together, while all senior players remain involved in supporting Karana’s junior program.
After a challenging 2025 season, the focus for 2026 is clear: compete strongly every week, build consistency and push toward finals. With a fresh team, new leadership and a strong preseason behind them, the Karana Opens are ready to put their hard work into action.
