The Tasmania Wild returned home this week following a five-game campaign across the Netball Australia Play-In Tournament and Super Netball Reserves Finals Weekend in Sydney, gaining valuable experience against some of the country's best emerging talent.
The Wild opened proceedings against the Capital Darters, going down 53-39 in a competitive opening hit-out at Netball Central's Show Court. The match gave the squad its first taste of the national stage for 2026 and set the tone for what was to come.
The following day brought one of the highlights of the trip, with the Wild producing a gutsy one-goal victory over the Territory Storm, 50-49. It was a hard-fought win that showcased the team's determination and capacity to compete at this level, with full court defensive pressure a key feature throughout.
Entering the Finals Weekend as the 10th seed, the Wild faced a steep challenge against seeded opposition. The Vixens Academy proved too strong on Friday, winning 69-31, before the Adelaide Thunderbirds Futures posted a 58-16 result on Saturday evening. The Wild rounded out their campaign on Sunday morning against the Queensland Firebirds Futures, finishing 71-33.
The experience gained across five games in a short window will prove invaluable for the athlete's development. The squad's full court defensive effort was a consistent strength throughout the week, and the one-goal margin against the Territory Storm demonstrated what this group is capable of when it clicks.
