All participating teams will wear special bibs, incorporating indigenous artwork designed by local aboriginal artist Danny Gardener. Danny has worked with many sporting clubs and organisations around the state for rounds like this.
Netball Tasmania CEO Aaron Pidgeon said he is excited for what he hopes will become a longstanding and successful tradition.
“We [Netball Tasmania] value diversity and inclusion, and we hope that the indigenous round will serve as a fitting acknowledgement and celebration of Indigenous Australians as the traditional owners of the land.”
“Netball Tasmania will seek to work closely with appropriate representative bodies in Tasmania to grow our annual Indigenous round and explore more opportunities to encourage Indigenous Australians to participate in Netball in Tasmania” he said.
