In 2025, Netball Tasmania partnered with IGA Tasmania to present the IGA Tasmania Volunteer of the Year and the IGA Tasmania Association of the Year awards. These awards are presented annually to a worthy recipient after a thorough application process. These awards provide recognition for their outstanding contribution to Netball.
“As a network of independent, locally owned stores, IGA Tasmania understands the power of community. We’re proud to support the people and organisations who give their time and energy to strengthen local sport. Congratulations to this year’s winners for their remarkable contribution to netball in Tasmania,” said Jasmine Receveur, Brand and Communications Manager, IGA Tasmania.
For the second year in a row, the Northern Tasmanian Netball Association (NTNA) took out Association of the Year in August. Over the past 12 months, NTNA have been successful in many funding applications including the Australian Government Play Our Way Grant, injecting $315,000 across three years into netball participation and development of athletes, coaches, officials, mentors, young leaders and more in Northern Tasmania. This has allowed the association to provide learning and development opportunities for grassroots netball, as well as building capacity for our Association’s future.
Claire Russell, NTNA’s Director of Operations, was thrilled to be presented their award from IGA Tasmania on Monday.
“The Northern Tasmanian Netball Association is thrilled to be recognised as Netball Tasmania’s Association of the Year for 2025. Receiving this award for a second-year running reflects the continued hard work, enthusiasm and commitment of our volunteers, staff, players, coaches, umpires, and supporters who make our netball community so special.
At NTNA, our purpose is to foster growth and joy through netball. To bring people together, create pathways for every level of the game and provide opportunities for our community to engage, grow, belong, and excel.
We extend a big thank you to IGA Tasmania for their generous support of this award. This $1,000 voucher will go a long way in providing nutrition support for our athletes and to help us continue to provide a positive and inclusive environment for our participants.
We’re excited to continue building on this momentum as we look ahead to another exciting year of netball in Northern Tasmania!”
The IGA Tasmania Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Clarissa Murphy.
Clarissa was awarded for her work with Kingston Blues, Kingborough Netball Association and Netball Tasmania. Clarissa’s care and compassion for players, fellow umpires, committee members and anyone involved in netball is described as “out of this world.” There is never a time she isn't doing something for the netball community.
Clarrisa was honoured to receive this award.
“For me, volunteering has never been about recognition, it’s been about giving back to the netball community that has given me so much.
Whilst volunteering and being involved with netball around the state, I have met so many wonderful people that I now call friends, and I have realised that the netball community is full of dedicated, passionate volunteers, who all deserve recognition.
I love every minute that I get to spend volunteering and helping the netball community and will continue for as long as the netball community will have me.”
