Arrows have had the advantage of the week off in the lead up to the Grand Final courtesy of a victory over Northern Hawks in week one of the finals. They also hold the season record over Cavaliers after winning all three of their past meetings this year by an average of 10 goals.
Cavaliers have gone the long way to the decider after finishing outside the top two. Victory over Cripps Waratah in the first semi-final and a narrow win last weekend against their northern rival Northern Hawks have secured the Cavaliers their right to play in the decider this weekend.
Arrows who also played in the 2014 decider will head into the match against Cavaliers as favourites after an undefeated season. This weekend they will however be hoping to go one further and lift the 2015 ANZ State League premiership trophy. Arrows player Sophie Gunn who has shot at 87% this season will be eager to continue her stellar season form and put the match in favour of her side from the start. Should this happen the match could be a one sided affair from the outset.
If Cavaliers are to have any chance defenders Danielle Carstens and Sandra Bennett will have to limit Gunn’s opportunities. Cavaliers centre court will also need to help their defenders with defensive pressure.
Up the other end Estelle Margetts who is scintillating form for Cavaliers will create headaches for Arrows defenders Natalie Downtown and Kath Olechowski.
If Cavaliers can stop Gunn and Margetts can perform as she has done all season this contest will be a thrilling decider and one not to miss.
In the afternoon’s earlier match Bellamy’s Organic Cavaliers will line-up against Cripps Waratah for the 19 and under State League title.
19 and under State League minor Premiers Cripps made the final after losing to their counterparts in the first weekend of the finals 44 to 39 and defeating the Northern Hawks last weekend 51 to 31. Cavaliers who have had the week off will be fresh and firing.
It’ll be another intriguing contest when they face again for the fourth time this season. Both teams have had two wins apiece throughout their four matches this season. The latest being the second semi-final two weekends ago were Cavaliers narrowly defeated Cripps 44 to 39.
This match is bound to be another thrilling contest with either team capable of winning as both have outstanding goal ends.
Be sure to catch all the Grand Final action this Saturday the 13th of June at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre, the corner of Creek Road and Main Road Moonah.
